Misc. Info: I learnt Dhrupada from Dr. Ritwik Sanyal, a disciple of Ustad Zia Fariddudin and Zia Mohiuddin Dagar. I hold a Master’s degree (M. Mus.) in Hindustani vocal Music and a Master’s Degree in Indian Philosophy after having studied for eight years at the prestigious Banaras Hindu University, Varanasi. Presently, I am a senior lecturer in Indian Classical vocal music and the head of the School of Performing Arts at the Mahatma Gandhi Institute, Mauritius. I am also a member of the International Society for Music Education (ISME) and Pan-African Society for Musical Arts Education (PASMAE). Besides teaching, I perform Dhrupada and Khyal, present papers in conferences and conduct workshops regularly in Mauritius and other countries.
