She is the torch bearer of Odissi Dance and the only exponent of Odissi Dance in the Leeds area. She was trained in Kathak by Dr. Malabika Mitra, in Odissi by Enakshi Sinha (Canada) and Dr. Reena Jana, and in Classical-Creative by Kohinoor Sen Barat of India, among others. Sayani also had the privilege of getting trained in Odissi Dance at Guru Kelucharan Mahapatra’s (Father of modern Odissi) Gurukul “Srjan” in Orissa, India.
