Comments – This is just marginally related to Jog.  It is inspired by the Carnatic Chal Nattai, which is fairly close to Jog. You definitely do NOT want to use this as an example to get feel for rag Jog.

Comments – I have been listening to lighter songs which I have placed under the topic of “Film Songs in Rag Jog” for the last two days. Most of the songs in this category I placed here with a distinct lack of enthusiasm. Just when I felt that I was wasting my time, I was given this reference from a reader. (I do occasionally put non-film songs in these pages.)

Considering that this is a light song rather than heavy classical, I feel that this is a very good rendition of rag Jog. Any deviation that the listener may hear seems to be totally within the range of differing interpretations of what rag Jog is supposed to be.

All things considered, if you are a student of music, this is a piece that is very worth giving a listen to.

Comments – The most that we can say is that this song is Jog-ish.  It is by no means a good representative of Jog and should not be used as a benchmark for this rag.

Comments – We can at best describe this as a Mishra Jog. Jog forms the base of this composition, but the liberties taken are extensive. From the standpoint of the purity of the rag, the Khammaj-ish treatment of both Nis is perhaps most jarring. But numerous other liberties are taken. Don’t try to use this as a guide for learning Jog.
