(a.k.a. Rageshwari)
Description
Rageshri is a popular rag in Hindustani sangeet. It has a similarity to Kamboji, and Khammaj with whom it shares the same that, and Bageshree for which it is different in terms of its Ga. Historically, it used two Nis (e.g., Rao, BS 1985), but today it tends to be played only with Komal Ni.
Pancham is omitted entirely, while Rishab is permitted only in the descending structure. The absence of Pancham and its consequent exclusion from the drone, gives a very distinctive character to this rag.
