Rag Tilang

by David Courtney working tools

Description

Tilang is a very popular rag of Hindustani sangeet; it has also been absorbed into Carnatic sangeet. It is very light in its mood and presentation, therefore it is not commonly used in heavier styles such as the kheyal, but very common in the lighter vocal and instrumental forms. Due to its light character, it is commonly mixed with other rags.
