The tarpa or pavri is a type of a hornpipe of the Pungi class. Indeed it is really nothing but a very large pungi that has a gourd or cow horn attached to the end. It is generally about 3 to 4 feet in length.
This instrument is found among the Kokna tribes of Western India. It plays a central position of the tarpha and pavri dances.
