Hi Does anyone here play bansuri|? I've had one in the key of g and just got one in the key of E -- my god are the holes far apart! i guess just alot of practice is needed to stretch the hands...i just dont want to damage my hands. any advice from anyone is greatly appreciated Paul
Likewise, Paul. I bought one a month ago and I'm struggling with the fingering. And I have big hands! (I'm a guitarist by inclination). Have you found any good instruction sites on the web? I'm still looking... Where are you based? I'm in Devon, U.K. Let me know how you get on - maybe we can swap tips. http://stephenpalmer.net
I have a set of bansuris but I wouldn't say I can play them. If you are bansuri lovers and players I thought you might be interested in a one week summer school on Indian classical music with the world renowned bansuri master G.S. Satchdev. You can find more details on http://sivananda.org/tirol/tirolenglisch/index_js.html
I am not a Bansuri player but I think taking up the Bansuri is msot admirable. However, whilst looking on the web I saw a site www.easternharmony.com From this you can buy material for self study put together by Hariprasad Chaurasia. I think this should be good quality material. Good luck, Steve.
