Hi, I have a couple of questions about sitar mantainence and was wondering if you guys knew something about this before I go out and do something I'm not supposed to.
I have a second had sitar which sounds great except that some of the eyelets of the sympathetic strings are cracked at the place where the string touches it, lowering the string and making it buzz along the wood. Is there some way to correct this eg, by putting some sort of cover or bead over the cracked eyelet?
What sort of wood polish can one use for the wooden parts of the sitar? Mine is sort of a light green color.
What sort of chalk can one use for setting in the pegs?
Also, can anyone recommend where I can buy or mail order spare strings. I live in Munich, Germany.
