AMIT DAS TABLA

on Friday, March 12, at 7:30 pm

Shafaatullah Khan is the son of Ustad Imrat Khan and
nephew of Ustad Vilayat Khan. Imrat Khan and Vilayat Khan are two of the greatest names among the 20th century Sitar maestros, particularly known for their Gayaki style (i.e., making the instrument sing soulfully like a vocalist), instead of the percussive style adopted by some of the other artists. Shafaatullah Khan has also excelled as a Tabla artist, taught by the well known Ustad Ibrahim Khan. He has performed in many famous venues around the world for
the past twenty years and has given numerous workshops and lecture-demonstrations in many U.S. universities. For more information about the artist, please visit www.shafaatullahkhan.com

Shafaatullah Khan will perform on the Sitar in one half
of the concert and the Tabla in the other half.
