Bet you thought you'd never see THAT name on here!

My wife and I love to cook and are big fans of the Food Network - that is, when we're not watching Elmo videos with our daughter. There's a new show on called "Dweezil & Lisa", starring Dweezil Zappa (of course) and Lisa Loeb (a songstress from the mid-90's).

Anyway, in one of the promos for the show Dweezil is wailing away on a sitar. I did some Google searches and it appears that he does indeed play the instrument. Anyone ever heard him play? I'm guessing it would be in some sort of rock/fusion context. .

Dont know much about the "Dweez" but I'm a HUGE fan of his dad Frank. I would rank FZ as the best rock- jazz- fusion- instrumentalist- composer artist ever. Just an all around great musician! WOW! He was fantastic.
Havent caught Dweezils show yet but I plan on watching it.
He and his brother "Ahmet" had a late show on a few years back, cant recall the name of it but I thought it was the best thing on TV at the time. Lots of live music and it really kicked A$$.

Yep Jeff, the "Shut Up and Play Yer Guitar" stuff was, in my opinion, some of his best stuff, but then I kinda liked the stuff kicked out while Capt. Beefheart was in the mix too. The "Shut Up" recordings contained some of Frank's work on electric sitar (just so that I'm not pegged for leaving the subject at hand), So I can see where Dweez gets it.

lol, Jeff - I should, but weasels ripped my jawari - so I'm waiting for the muffin man, Captain Deerheart, to correct this.
Is this fact that Zappaji used electric Sitars? Wasn't it guitars with some Oberheim VCF and other weird effects?

Hey Stephen, another good one is "Frank Zappa Guitar" ,one of my all time favorites. Just all guitar solos.
Never had a chance to see FZ in concert. One of my biggest regrets. A friend of mine saw FZ 4 times, and he wasnt even a fan, he just happened to get free tickets for the shows!

It was Warren Cucurullo who did the electric sitar on "Shut up . . .".
