Those are made by Jittendra of Sitara.org He's some guy who lived in India for a lot of years. His stuff is very ornate and beautifully finished. Unfortunately, they aren't really very playable. He's a "concept guy" who is really into statuary and fancy carving, but not to taken seriously as an instrument builder. This is the consensus of professional musicians that have tried his stuff. Buyer beware on this one.
yes, this whole instrument brings to mind quite a hodgepodge of other instruments, doesn't it?
very visual, aesthetically speaking. . . . .
the shape of the back of it reminds me of a persian tar. . . . .the swan shaped headpiece, a surbahar. . . . .the front, either a viola or very 50's style guitar. . . . . .
yes, fun to look at, very lovely wood. . .
but I wonder how this thing plays. . . . . .:-)
and what would it sound like?
hmmmm
good post, interesting to say the least : )

that is the strangest "sitar" I've ever seen. It looks like a mandolin with tarabs. I bet people will be lining up to buy that one :-)
someone has bid the minumum bid for it of $500 its , kind of a lot of money for a decoration
wonder how tip toe through the tullips sounds played on it ?
