Since it seems that there are no sitar players in the Charleston, huntington, and beckley area. clould someone please recommend a video or book which is helpful for beginners. I have Introduction to Sitar by Rao and Learn to Play the Sitar by Ram Avtar "vir" (the second book came with the sitar). I have also seen some videos for $50.00 this seems ridiculously expensive - but if anyone has any recommendations I would be greatful

I have all 4 of the Ashwin Batish videos, cost me $200 but they did unlock some mysteries. I am sure if you look on e-bay you could find them cheaper.
If you must, just get sitar tutors #1 and #2 from the Batish series. They're better than nothing but they leave you wishing that he should have put more info on the videos.
On another note I've e-mailed Ashwin a few times about his announced "Jawari" video but his wife says he's too busy to do it. I think that is a very good idea for a video and I hope someone will put one out soon.
Hi Rg. .
Check your email. . .! The Batish videos are all that's out there for the moment. . .we are planning on a DVD series hopefully within a year to help those in your situation but it's expensive to make them so slowly, slowly. . .
Are you gnna be on the DVD Lars? It'll be great if you can give some really in depth instruction. Maybe something other than just scale exercises.
Keep us posted, thanks
