I don't know of any teachers in your area, but if I can find one in Iowa you should be able to find one in Denver. I'd suggest posting something at the local Indian restaurants or groceries. If there is a "Friends of India" association out there you might want to check them out - that's who put me in touch with my teacher.
I haven't been to any Indian celebrations myself, but most Indians that I know are flattered when others are interested in their culture.
