Can anyone tell which fingers does Zakir use on the the bayan (and what intonation - rising or falling) for the following kaidas -
dha ti dha ge dhin na ge na
and
dha ti dha ge na dha trkt dha ti dha ge dhin na ge na
if m=middle/last three finger, i=index finger (on bayan)
is it
dha ti dha ge dhin na ge na
m__m ___ i_ m_____i
By the way he uses only the middle finger, not the middle/ring finger combination. And he often has a little blister/scab thing on his middle finger. He emphasizes you need to strike quite strongly on your bayan strokes for the best results.
Hi "Tabla_Ustad",
I want to say this without being rude - the title Ustad or Pandit is given to artists of high calibre and experience. From the types of questions you are asking, it would seem that it is innapropriate for you to refer to yourself in this way.
I don't mean any disrespect. But, I think that the beginners in Indian music should be aware of the significance of these titles. They should not be used lightly. (though I'm sure this can be a whole other topic of debate. .)
"Shawl", I don't find this funny. You copied my text from another post and posted it here. If you have something to say, please use your own words.

Zakir's finger changes according to speed , anything played at high speed usually alternates fingers but probably start with the middle , don't assume ge is always going to be played with the first finger. and vice a versa .

It really does depend on speed as well as the general effect you want to create with the bol
Generally, however, my teacher (a student of Zakir's) says he uses the ring finger and open sound for all the strokes except the second Dha (after the ti) which can be played with a high-pitched, truncated sound by striking quickly with the index finger
I'm pretty sure that's right but it it isn't wrong please let me know
