Vilambit Ektaal Help Aug 01, 2003 12:33 p.m.

Hi,

I am trying to understand the bols played before vilambit (slow tempo) ektaal is started in Hindustani vocal accompaniment.
It sounds like tirakita-taka-tirakita.
Following this the ektaal starts as
dhin*** dhin*** dha*ge*. . .

Any help will be appreciated.

Roopak.

Prashant, he actually was asking what bols are played before the theka starts, not how to ornament the theka itself.

I assume that with slow ektal this normally is some sort of mukhra, and I would think, like other thekas, it would just really depend on what the tabla player feels like playing to introduce the theka.
