Just as all gharanas in tabla have different typical bols, the different gharanas of dance have their own subsequent bols. For example, the Jaipur gharana (Kathak) typically makes use of pauses in dance bols, whereas Lucknow styles are more compacted. For Bharatanatyam, the Vazhavoor style tends to be slightly slower, with music more like carnatic classical music, whereas the Tanjore style the music is more focused on the dance. Ultimately, the way the style of dance is determines what to play. Good luck to you.
