Is there a collection of "full" kaida compositions - like the ones in David Courtney's book with the theme and variations and tihai, etc all written out?
I don't normally participate in the boards but I thought that you may wish to know that I am about to release my 4th volume of the series of books on the tabla. This will be totally dedicated to the kaida.
I have not counted how many there are but off the top of my head I think that there must be about 50-100 kaidas. .
More information will come when it is released.
Thank you all for your support and encouragement over the years.
This is good news. But why don't you participate in this board? You could be very useful with your knowledge,David.

I run the server that this board operates on, I also control the software. This is too much power over the board. Even If I don't use the power, I fear that simply my presence might stiffle the free exchange of thoughts and ideas. I feel that it is better for all involved if I just stay away.
Fortunately there has been only one time that I absolutely had to intercede. That was to break up a flame war that broke out about a year and a half ago. This was a bad time and we lost a number of regular posters during that time. Fortunate things are generly pretty peaceful.

I respect that,David. But still I think you have the right just like anybody else to give your thoughts on this forum. If someone has a problem with that. .well I think he surely do not belong here. Novice or semi-professional,we all have a lot of questions and if someone like Pete,Russ,Warren or you can give some neutral advice or info I think it will not harm anyone.
Today is my first day visiting this site, and I must say I had no idea that a forum like this existed.
I am located in Toronto and would love to know when the compositions become available would I be able to purchase it via the internet. It is hard to find Tabla books here in Toronto.

Hi Julie,
I live in Montreal, and go to Toronto about once a month for tabla lessons. Who do you study with? I study with Bob Becker and Vineet Vyas (Benares gharana).
I was very lucky to find Gordon Gottleib's book on tabla (the 2 volume set) in "little India" in Toronto (Coxwell/Gerrard street). I don't think they had any more copies, though. .
In any case, I highly reccomend all of David's books. You can order them directly from him, I believe. I think that Buckingham music and Amazon.com also carry his books. You'll definitely be able to order them via the Internet.
Julie,
Is Ritesh still doing his tabla ensemble? Great Stuff!
Also there is a lot of compositions on my Austin Tabla website and check out what were doing in Austin
