2 being the middle and ring finger , 1 being the first. It is 2 1 2 1 2 1etc. this is very important because when you play very fast on the Kali section your ke ke is played 2 1 also . Think of it like playing dhere with the left hand

I'm not sure that it is. I play Benares gharana as well, but I have seen both used for fast passages... 2,1 or 1,2. I think it depends a bit on context and your guru's preferences (as well as your own).
