Does anyone know who Ali Akbar Khan's tabla player will be on his current tour? I'm looking forward to seeing him live. .

Probably swapan choudhuri. I dont think i've ever seen him play (in recent times) with anyone else but either Swapan or Zakir.

So far it has been Swapan , they have been a team now for a while. But son Aashish Khan just performed in Dallas with Zakir and they have more concerts planned together. http://www.aashishkhan.com

No, there is one in New York on Nov 9th. The tabla player for the evening is Zakir Hussain; don't know if he's been on the other shows.

Oh cool, I've heard his name but never heard him play - I imagine he's quite good.

I don't know whats up with AAK's website they are keeping up with his concert schedule then.
It's annoying that we don't know whats going on

Zakirs tour info hasn't been there either on his website . I would love to see khansahib perform with Zakir and maybe get some fire back into him

I saw the tour this past friday the line up was:
ali akbar khan-sarod
zakir hussain-tabla
as well as:
alam khan-sarod
george ruckert-tampura
manik khan-tampura

they played to pieces
the first for one hour and 45 minutes
the second for one hour and a half
both were absolutely amazing. . .
