Hello there!

I am very interested in learning to play the tabla, but living here in Tucson, it's hard to find teachers, or so it seems after doing the standard searches and investigatiosn. Just wondering if anyone out there knows of a good teacher in the area. Could go as far as the Phoenix area on the weekends, if need be.

Thanks!

You would be amazed to find out there are teachers in your area that can at least start you on your way . Put up an ad in the Indian food grocery stores and restaurants. And try to find someone that plays in the community.

I live in Tucson - look up Todd Hammes, he is probably the best tabla player/teacher in the area. I think he has a website. He plays with a couple of local groups, one called Sanjaya and another called the Sonoran Consort. Call Pete at Rainbow Guitars to get his number if you can't find it. Good Luck.
