Tabla teachers in Vancouver? Aug 25, 2002 10:38 a.m.

Hi everyone, I'm looking for a tabla instructor in Vancouver (beginner to intermediate level). Any help or suggestions, contacts, etc. are much appreciated.

Thanks,
John

My standard paiste in answer:
You would be amazed to find out there are teachers in your area that can at least start you on your way . Put up an ad in the Indian food grocery stores and restaurants. And try to find someone that plays in the community

There aren't many good players in Vancouver. However, there is one really good player named Stefan. He has been a student of Zakir for about 7 years and works at Black Swan records. Go to see him there-he usually works weekend afternoons.

I live in Seattle now so I don't see him as much. Good luck!
