Prafulla (the owner of the site www.tabla-player.com) sent me a VCD of his concert in France playing on tabla and accompanying a sitar player.
Prafulla is a very good tabla player and I am happy to inform that he is a member of our group, ITG, though he is really busy and posts in this list rarely.
Also he sent me a tabla skin that is of high quality.
If someday I have enough money then I will ask Prafulla to buy a professional tabla for me in Bombay.
I hope Prafulla will put more info on his site about tabla, Indian talas and great tabla players.
Best wishes,
Peyman

I know Prafulla is a very good player. I was wondering if anyone has bought a tabla from him? If so please share your experiences. I am interested in buying but am not sure about the overall quality of the drum.
Also, I bought a tabla from Prafulla. I didn't actually get the drum direct from him; someone else bought it, and then resold it to me because it was 1/4" too small for his tastes (big hands).
Anyways, it's an amazing quality drum, made by Sadadan if I'm not mistaken. Heavy wood, super-high quality skin, and very long sustain.
Though with shipping, etc. . they're quite expensive.
I bought a tabla set from prathulla athalye, and i must say it is of excellent quality and i am delighted with it. Prafulla is a very nice man, and from what i hear he is an excellent tabla player. He is good friends with my tutor Jagdeep, who lives here in England as i do. If you want to buy tabla, i would strongly reccomend Prafulla.
