Yes this Buzz is coused by lose particles on the syahi, i dont it affects the saound in any other way that the annoying buzz, there are some ways of fixing this , to which i am not personally familiar with, but there is some information in David Courtneys Repair an Maintainence section on this subject.

A very, very small drop. Can't say I know from experience, I've never been able to find the loose particles (magnifying glass, bright light and all). You may be lucky!

I have had my tabla for over a year now and I have noticed particles missing on the tabla (not bass drum). Will this affect the sound?
And also I am picking up a kind of ringing noise when I play 'Na. Not sure if its caused by the loose particles.
