Playing na or tin on my tabla sounds weak compared to recordings ive heard. .is this due to tunning ,skin or make of drum?mine have a gold sticker with a woman playing they cost 140 � . .is this a decent price for tabla or do i need better drums?. .also anyone know more positions for dholak than edge 1.3 or centre 1 3. .thats open and closed respectivly. .any sites ?
your tabla may be out of tune, that can cause the tone of ta and tin to be not so great. Perhaps your hand technique isnt as clean as the tabla players on the records? Make sure everything about the stroke is in order, specifically where you ring finger is and where you strike the drum in comparison to the location of the ring finger.
