In 98, when starting to learn tabla in Varanasi, I read on one of the Lucknow papers that there was a little girl(in Lucknow) who was supposedly very good on tabla. They(music people and others) even said that she might be the incarnation of a great musicain.
I don't remember her name or anything but is there anyone who has ever heard of this girl? She was about seven then.
I know exactly who you are talking about. She is a tabla phenom. I forget her name but people tell me that even at her young age, her sound production rivals the greatest of masters. I think she did a solo at the ali akbar khan school in San Rafael, CA. You might want to call them to get more info.
Her name is Rimpa Shiva and is the daughter of Swapan Shiva.
I saw her on the Dutch television a few years ago and she is amazingly good. I think she is around 12 years old now.
And I also remember I heard somewhere she gave a concert in California so I think we are talking about the same princess.
If you find more information about this talented girl let us know,Rod.
She also stole my heart.
Thanks for the reply. I was not expecting much really. It is good to know that she is out there and performing. I have never seen or heard her playing but if you guys know of any of her performances or web sites relating to her, let us know.
. .and God bless her!
