Hi all,

I'm just started to learn tabla, I would like to know if some of you could give to me some tips about the bhajan rhythm.

Thanks.

Have you had any musical training before tabla?

The Bhajani theka is an 8 beat cycle .
The basic bol is

Dhin -- Na Tin -- Te Na --

With Te ( 6th beat ) being played with the
right hand 2nd finger on the black shahi.
and ke (left hand) being played at the same
time as Tin.

There are many variations of this, but this is
in its simplist form.

For a slower beat

Dhin -- Na Tin -- Te Na Te

Apoligies.

The bols in my previos reply should have been,

Dhin -- Na Tin -- Te Dha --

and

Dhin -- Na Tin -- Te Dha Te

Dear theMonk,

No I didn't. I just bought the tabla and a book(Alla Racka), I started with tintal, and now I'm going to start the kaida, but I've practicing Sahaja Yoga(www.sahajayoga.org), and there we play lots of bhajans, with the swarshala trial I saw the basics strokes:
|| Dhin Na Dhin Dhin || but, i would like some variations and some technics to play fast. Could you help me?

Regards
Sergei
