We're happy to present a further three titles in our
900 series. We resume the 900 series where we left
off with another recording of Nikhil Banerjee, the
virtuoso who passed away much too soon. Raga Desh
was recorded on the same occasion, in Stockholm in
November of 1975, as Raga Piloo (AMCD 904).
The next two titles are recordings of the legendary Zia
Mohiuddin Dagar, recorded by Bengt Berger in Chembur,
Mumbai, 1967 and 1968, respectively. Raga Mishra Bhairavi,
where ZM Dagar plays the sitar, has previously been issued
by MNW as Morgonraga ["morning raga"], now long out out
of print. A CD release most looked forward to.
The other ZM Dagar issue is a previously unreleased alternate
take of Raga Gangeyabushan (LP Alvars LD 114), where Dagar
plays a unique rudra veena - a variant version custom built for
him - with a lower than normal register.
This time too we've taken great pains finding the best source
tape material and then 24-bit remaster these recordings. And
just like last time, they're all in the mid-price range.
