As a guitar player im wondering if its possible to tune a Sitar to a standard guitar formation i.e. E A D G B E, is it possible to damage a sitar if i did this? thanks for your time -Kunal

You could tune it that way somewhat with the first 4 strings. You wouldn't be able to chord like a guitar, you could get a 2 note "chord" with a little effort, also to play scales/runs like a guitar your use of the 3rd and 4th strings would be limited as the pitch wouldn't be accurate the further up you moved on the neck.
Also, you would have to use different string gauges than the normal setup. As for the chikari strings, I don't know. .
