Pb: Have your kind friend pick up the items. I don't know how much the tabla machine is, but the tanpura machine will run around US$105 +/- a few bucks depending on the exchange rate.
If you're in the US, you'll have to buy a power cord (around $3) at a good electronics supply house. The new machines also run on 8 AA cells.
Speaking of. .I've recently switched to the NiMH rechargables for all my AA/AAA battery needs. They provide more power, duration, and can be recharged anytime during their discharge cycle (no "memory" like NiCads) You can pick them up on ebay for almost as cheap as alkaline cells. If you do the math you'll save THOUSANDS of dollars compared to buying alkalines.
