No the tension is not too heavy in the surbhar. . . .
my teacher recently brought a very old surbhar. .
the sound is rather good but it aint good if ur playing
the dhrut(fast) compositions. . . . .
i dint have to alter or change the position while playing it
earlier well. . some of them still use stands to keep the gourd. .
like while playing the veena ( if u ahve noticed). . espicially females. . . .
guru maa annapoorna devi used the stand for some time. . .
but the sound of surbhar during the allap is definately unmatched
the herenroy. . sitars are not like what it used to be. .
the wood is still wet when they make the sitar dont have the time to dry em out. . .
the hirenroy well all know is nomore. .:-\
some guys use to tag to make more money. . . few ppl who worked for hiren roy. . u know
sitars of kanhai lal , radhakirsna sharma are good as well. . .
