Hi,
I was wondering if anyone of you knows if there are recordingsd available of Annapurna Devi. I just read an article that she actually recorded, so they should be out somewhere.
Hey Remco;
Just read the article on your post. Fascinating stuff. I had no idea Annapurna Devi was that good! She just never was the commercial success that her ex-husband is. That's why it will be difficult to find a recording by her. I have the feeling that any recording of her is jealously guarded by its owner and not available to the public. But, you still might try I guess.
Oh, went further and brought up the Music Magazine and read the article on Nora Jones. I had heard Ravi had another daughter, born and raised in Texas of all places. What do you know of her?
Just read an article on her in British magazine called "Q". She is more like an easy listening type popsinger. (think Sade) Saw her clip on MTV. I saw the video without knowing it was her, but she's a spitting image of Anouskha, so the link was quickly made. . .
I'll be darn. When I was in Austin taking sitar lessons back in early May, one of the tabla students I met mentioned that Ravi's daughter would be doing a performance in Houston later that month. I thought that was odd because I knew Anoushka was performing somewhere else with dad. I thought he was mistaken at the time, but turns out he was actually right.
Sade huh? Haven't heard her in a while.
I still like "Smooth Operator" although its getting a little fuzzy now.

Hey Remco;
I occasionally surf the yahoo sitar club board to see what chatter they're up to, and I notice someone else is trying to find Annapurna's work. One fellow there says he has a recording of Annapurna with Ravi in a duet! He's Roger Lipson in New York, and he has his own commercial website at rogerlipson.com. Not sure what his email is, but try Roger2124 at yahoo. Sounds like he wouldn't mind trading his recording for something else. . .
