Just saw that Khazana is offering a CD ROM called "Ragas". Claims to have over two dozen training modules covering 54 ragas and chalans, plus 15 talas to choose from. Video clips, music, literature, etc. Has anybody taken a chance and tried this one out? Sounds interesting.
It does sound interesting. I tried to find it on their site but unfortunately their search engine pulls up thousands of items when I enter "Ragas." May I ask you where it is?
Lark In The Morning also sells this CD-ROM, so you might want to compare prices with them.
I haven't a clue as to the usefulness if this CD, but am intrigued. Let me know if you go for it. I'll be interested in your critique.
Bob;
Yeah, that's the problem with using search engines. "Raga" is a huge category!
Go to Khazana's main page, click on "India" on the left hand of the page, then click on "music" also on the left hand of the page. Scroll down to about the 3rd item. I think they sell it for $25. Haven't checked out Lark in the Morning yet; going to do that now.
Stephen;
Ran through Lark In the Morning's listings. Never did find the "Ragas" CD ROM, but I did find another CD ROM for sitarists there. Its the Jafferkhani Baaj by Abdul Jaffer Khan. Has playing basics, techniques, his gharana's style, etc. Same kind of music/video format, and has a book with it too. Asking $35. So, here's another interesting item. . . .
Hi all,
The Jafferkhani book and CDROM is very well done, two thumbs up!! He was/is quite the player, has gone deaf now so the rumours go. . .
Who's going to get the Raga CD and review it? Hmmmm???
Try www.neelam.com for faster service than Khazana for this item. . .
