This might fall under a "mid-newbie" inquiry: Here's an open question. .What is /are A)dhrupad, B)khyal, & C)thumri? Are these forms of Indian music? Styles of playing? Or something else entirely? Neal

Hi Neal,
Instead of a lengthy explanation, I'll point you to a site that has it. It's the site of Kens teacher Haresh, very nice!
http://www.soundofindia.com
Click on 'online lessons'
Then scroll down to section 3.1 and you'll find your answers. . . . .Enjoy!

Thanks Lars, I'll take a peek. Neal

PS Glad I listened to you and went for the Teak!

PPS With the 2nd gourd on the Teak is heavy!!! Almost twice as heavy as the loaner I had from my teacher.

My pleasure. . . . .actually it's Ken who deserves the kudos for finding the site and telling me about it.
Yes, the teaks are heavy. . . .I love it!! Hope you're having some fun, the sound really comes around. . .if you play every day don't forget to change your MA string every 2 months or so. . .
