Could anyone please tell me where to buy a nice but not too expensive sitar in the USA? Also, I need to find out about any book that can teach me how to play the sitar. I am a beginner. Assuming your request is for real, you'll note the obvious links on this website to Buckingham music. Their student intro models are around 200 dollars. If that doesn't work, Ebay is another place to try for inexpensive sitars. But remember, in most cases you get what you pay for, and the quality on Ebay runs from pretty good to pure trash! Best advice is to go with a friend who can advise you on what's good and what's not. Good luck.
