I'm looking for a copy of Suresh Talwalkar's only solo recording on Magnasound label LP. I think the date was 1993 (?)
If anyone has this or a copy of it or is inclined to make another copy for me I would be willing to swap a live recording from a large number of artists I have in my collection. aanaddha@cox.net
I saw Pt. Suresh Talwalkar in N.Y.C. at the all-nite concert with Pt.Ulhas Kalshakar and it was a real treat. First time I'd see either artists and there was this chemistry between soloist and accompanist that is rarely seen, much less heard, especially with vocalists.
I also picked up a CD - "Laya Kalpana - Rythmic Bliss of Tabla" that I think was from his tour in 2001 with Charudatta Phadke, Ravindra Chari, Dr. Adwait Dixit, and Sriram Hasabnis.
(2 tracks - tisrajatti jhaptal (vistaarshama rachnayein) and drut teental (avistaarshama rachnayan)
This isn't a commercial cd, so if you happen to see a copy grab it - I doubt you'll ever find it in the stores or on the web. It's about the most upbeat, musically lively tabla solo recording I've ever heard and just the bol recital parts are worth the $12. it cost.
regarding the tabla solo by Pandit Suresh Talwalker , is it the one where he does a jap taal solo with taal vadya kacheri on side B
I did some serious digging in the meantime and here are the details:
