Matta Taal is the rarely performed and used taal in Hindustani Tradition
It has 9 Matras Played as
Dhin - TiRaKiTa - Dhin - Na - Tun - Na - Dhin - Dhin - Na
Last 3 Matras are also played as
"DhinDhin - NaDhin - DhinNa" this sounds like "DhinDhinNa-DhinDhinNa"
This odd 9 beats taal said to have a long history arising from the glorious historyof Dhrupad where this is performed on Pakhaavaaj.
Matta Taal is a slow and medium fast playable taal. It can't be Plyed in very fast tempo. It gives the full space for creativity without being obstacle with its basic structure.
Many taals being of 11 13 15 martas also resemble this taal format. But this doesn't sound like difficult.
Mainly Instrumentalists use this taal to show their control over laya. It is now becoming famous with vocalists (The effort of Dr. Ashvini Bhide Deshpande is of such a pride to sing in this taal) Instrumentalists and soloists
