After doing about a year's worth of research I bought a real sweet pair of Crown CM-700's small diaphragm mics recently for about $150. each. They're small and indiscreet but pack a lot of punch and clarity for their size. Audio-Technica also has a good line of large and small diaphragm condensors mikes that are clean, well built, and cost not too much more than the Shures. The Shures will last a life time under all kinds of abuse, they're inexpensive, but at some point in the future you may want to consider something a little cleaner and with more refinement. The mics I mentioned are also excellent for voice, string instrument, as well as percussion, both treble and bass.

Dear Zitoun,
Ebay. It took some serious waiting.
www.8thstreet.com in Philadelphia also has the lower prices of most online stores. Check their special sales. They're also incredibly helpful in person or on the phone.
I should also mention that a good mic isn't worth getting if you're using cheap cables. I recommend Blue Kiwi for the quality and the price. You can get those at any Guitar Center.

Zitoun,
