How heavy a use of left hand individual fingers. . Dec 17, 2003 12:29 p.m.

Hi,
I am really new to learning Tabla. Before even start learning, I shall like to know how much use of individual fingers of the left hand is involved in playing tabla ( more correctly dagga).
In using my hands, I am righty and not lefty.
I have a weak last fingure( smallest end finger) of the left hand. Can it be restrictive in playing it for long time?

Thanks. .

Shawn

Hi,

The small finger of the left hand isn't really used in tabla playing. It's mostly the index and middle finger. There is also a stroke (Ka) that uses the whole hand, flat, but that won't be a problem.
