Pandit Sharda Sahai

Tabla Virtuoso
Kagyu Samye Dzong London Tibetan Buddhist Centre presents a performance by this world renowned tabla player, accompanied by Pandit Vishwa Prakash. All proceeds from the evening will go towards funding permanent premises for the centre.
Pandit Sharda Sahai's reputation as a tabla maestro in India and in the West is unmatched. He has performed at all of the major music conferences and festivals in India, at over one thousand concerts worldwide and with every master of North Indian classical music, including Ravi Shankar. He has held appointments at some of the world's most prestigious universities and presently lives in the UK, teaching at Oxford and Leeds.

As head of the Benares Gharana School, his performances are paradigms of this popular and respected style and his playing is regarded by both old and new generations of tabla players as an authoritative model. Few musicians in the world attain Sharda Sahai's level of virtuosity.

His performances are truly spellbinding.

Begg, play your bongos in the metro, get a loan do whatever you want but you must go to this concert. I can even see it. A small hall, everyone sitting close together with a real Indian feel to it, lots of chai, great acustics. .the sound of budhist mantras in the air. .incense burning. . shiny monks' heads. . Combine that with a top tabla master performance and you will feel like you have fallen into an unforgetable dream.

Who is going?
