Well, I know she is a diciple of Zakir so she must be good. I have been trying to navigate her site for nearly a year and some bits like sample music does not work. Her site is anuradhapal.com I have read some very good reviews about her also.
IMHO some of Zakirji's students are great, some are good, and some are neither good nor great. Anuradha Pal, judging only from her recordings, is good. Neither a teacher nor a student should be judged on the other's merits or accomplishments.
Wow, I've just come off Anuradha's site, boy it's so awesome. The video files are well worth the lengthy downloads. She is phenomenal and very attractive in the respective way and especially her facial expression and serene style. I am now inspired and motivated to practice hard again. For the benefit of others her site is anuradhapal.com
Yes, I agree, Anuradha Pal is a very attractive young woman. And she has a terrific posture. I also like her hair.
I doubt however that she is the "only internationally-known female tabla player in the world" (?). Rimpa Shiv, for example, is also very well known and performs often in numerous countries ouside of India.
Aanaddha
Actually, I think the implication was she is the only professional female Internationally know. (meaning employed as a Tabla player as her only source of income).
While I have no knowledge of Tabla, I have to admit that I was very impressed by the video footage on her site. To the point where it made me interested in learning to play.
I just got hold of a CD with performances by Rimpa Shiv at the ages of 8 and 9. She is extremely accomplished for that age-to the point of being a little frightening. :-)
