Me again. Still trying to help my friend in the South Pacific. Could someone recommend a video in particular? Thank you.

Pandit Shankar Ghosh's Play tabla video+booklet is very good! I bought it from Knock on wood (U.K).

Ustaad Alla Rakha drumming manual and video is outstanding (available from Digitala or Amazon.com). Each stroke is carefully demonstrated by Khan Saheb and then each phrase and finally each piece is played. Section 2 has a complete tabla solo recital with Khan Saheb playing at performance tempo.

My guru recently left Houston for India and I was very worried about future progress. However, with this superb video/manual, I am happy to say that I am playing the first two Panjab gharana kaida at practice speed (240 bpm) near flawlessly !

Thank you Harihar Rao and Jeffrey Feldman for bringing Khan Saheb to my home !
