I'm a novice (& sans teacher) and a little concerned about the sound my bayan has started making when I play - it's kind of a buzz or, like, conflicting harmonic or something. It seems to get worse as I play. I don't have any gatta in place. I seem to get different tones when striking the chat on opposite sides of the syahi. Is this a tuning problem, to be remedied with gatta?
Also, is it normal for the pudi to stretch and form a depression behind the syahi after playing the bayan for a while? It goes away after the bayan rests a few hours. I do powder my hands.
Well it sounds like a floppy baya with a big sweat spot.
tighten up the tone and that indentation with pegs, the baya should sound good with an open tone without modulating . If you are playing to much in one spot with a sweating hand crank it around clockwise a little.
