I decided to add a little tribute to the Benares gharana on my website; just for fun, and to show my respect for the great tabla players from that gharana. Have a look and let me know what you think. Comments and suggestions are very welcome. :-)
My site is at http://www.percussionist.net . . then you click Tabla on the side menu, which takes you to a basic explanation of the instrument, and then in the first paragraph, there is mention of the Benares gharana - click on that link.
Shawn ,
That's absolutely fantastic And the best website I've seen of a gharana out there.
Well done!!!
Now if we could just get some equally informative versions of the other gharanas.
Ajarya being the one I know the least about

As for all the gharanas, that would require a significant amount of time, which I don't have right now, but perhaps someone will take up the challenge :-)
I thought that this is what the "Tabla Gharana Homepage" would be doing, and it has been a long time since the site has been around, but they never filled in the various gharana pages.
