I can only make a couple of comments #1 Maha Purush Misra on all those early Ali Akbar Khan albums was a huge inspiration to me and he may be the main disciple to listen to . #2 Zakirda and other teachers always spoke highly of him. Maybe he was Benares or Lucknow, I don't know.

Pt Anoke Lal Mishra was a Banaras player. In Banaras they say the he indeed was like God when playing the tabla. My Gurujee, Sharda Sahai, also says that he was an amazing player. Very clear and very fast. From what I heard in Banaras, was that he had a tabla made of stone where he would practice. . .perhaps now we can understand why they(in Varanasi) say that people would stand up and clap even when he played a simple tintal theka. . .with some luck I may even get some recorded music of him but it is extremely difficult since only one or two people in Banaras have it in their private collection!! . . . .the search for the trasure is on!!!! :-)
