Hi, I have been suffering from tennis elbow (tendonitis) for 6 months. I am interested in studying tabla in the near future. Does anyone know whether tabla would aggravate my condition?
Thnx. Dave

It depends, when I started tabla I had no trouble, then later into the tabla i got trouble in both elbows, partially from guitar and partly from tabla. But I did stretches and massages and ointments and rethought my practice schedule and all is well now. So it depends on how much you are going to play, and if you are going to be playing correctly.

Dave
i think playing tabla would help your arm. i play double bass and have had arm problems constantly for the past four years, gradually getting worse and worse. after starting to play tabla all my tendinitis slowly went away. its not as much that just palying fixed my arms but you have to be completely relaxed and loose to be able to play right. if a good teacher is around then I say go for it
