What to look if one wants to buy a tabla Jun 20, 2002 01:32 p.m.

My son (11) is learning Tabla about which I dont know any thing. I want to buy A tabla set for him. Is any thing that shop keeper offers is good or I should be careful regarding some thing.

I am afraid my son is not old enough to buy one for himself.

Get a student tabla set from Buckingham music. Or if you'd like to spend more money, take a look at the Ali Akbar Khan School of Music store online. Both those places are garanteed to give you a quality tabla. I have played both the grade A Deluxe tabla from buckingham music, and some of the models from Ali Akbar store. Very nice things. 11 is a great age to begin tabla!
