What do you all think of The album Tabla Beat Science? I'd heard it alot at a friends and had two of the songs I'd liked on my computer, but yesturday I found out Zakir Hussain played on that CD. Along with a few other tabla players, are the other tabla players also as well known as Zakir?

Talvin Singh and Trilok Gurtu played on this CD too.
Talvin Singh is an english DJ and tabla player, the first time I saw him was in MTV's Bjork unplugged : some good tabla parts in it.
Trilok Gurtu is a very good multi-percussionist and drummer, he played with many people ( mclaughlin. .).
Tabla Beat Science is an interesting Cd for tabla players (I am ) but a bit abstract for others, i imagine.
Tabla Beat Science is an amazing album. . it really mixes techno and traditional sound. . Bill Laswell had a lot to do with that. Check out Lo Def Pressure and the Sacred System series for more tabla techno (Lo Def Pressure is especially good - 2 25 minute tabla jams). There's a whole variety of groups that are producing offshoots of the kind of asian underground that Talvin and others helped create.

Tabla beat science is great. .trilok gurtu is a maniac he played tabla with one hand and a whole drum set in the other live on time. .talvin singh mixes alot of techno and indian classical. .wicked stuff, i downloaded alot of it bill laswell i havent heard much of and zakir hussain. .lets not even talk about him hes the wolfgang amadeus mozart of tabla
