Hello all,

is there any chance someone here knows anything about the history of the tabla tarang, aside from what's in the liner notes for kamalesh maitra's smithsonian album?

Dear Friend,

As I know the word tarang and tarana has the same root and means the musical sound or voice.

You will find the word tarang in the Jal Tarang that is a set of bowl that is tuned by incresing and decresing the water. Jal means water.

That is what I know about the tabla-tarang.

I hope that it will be useful.

Kumar
