I'm a tabla player from Paris in France,
I'm going soon in Delhi but I don't know so much about Delhi tabla shop as usually I'm going to Maharastra. .
Does anyone know a good tabla shop in Delhi. .thanks in advance.
There is a store called Bina Musicals in London. I used to visit there often when I lived in London 3 years back. I understand they have a big store in New Delhi. Check out their Web Site. IF you go to Mumbai, there is Bhargava's. If you go Pune there are many local stores - one is Ajmer Singh and sons, Ganesh peth Laxmi Road.
Rikhi Ram, on Marina Road in Connaught Circus, has the best tablas in Delhi. Stay away from Bina, as they usually consist of second-rate materials passed over by other manufacturers. Unfortunately there's no tabalwallah section in the bazaars of Delhi, but Rikhi Ram does have high quality instruments-- they make the best sitars in the world, apparently. expect to pay between Rs. 8,000 and Rs. 9,000 for a professional level set. And you most certainly get what you pay for.
