I just wanted to share this nice link about shellac, can come in handy if you need to touch up the finish of your sitar. .
A google search gave me this a while back, still havent forund the stuff in town but im getting closer by the day.

Hey Jan: If you can't find shellac flakes locally, go to http://www.shellac.net/
I bought one of their sampler packs - it's come to you fresh and there's enough shellac to touch up a sitar for it's entire life. Make sure you get the de-waxed variety.
Whatever you do, don't buy the pre-mixed stuff from the hardware store! It has preservatives in it to give it a longer shelf life and it never really dries hard.
